DLAD Appeal
Here To Help
If your driver’s license has been revoked in Michigan, you may be eligible for a driver’s license appeal hearing before the Driver Assessment and Appeal Division (DAAD), commonly referred to as (and formerly known as) the DLAD. Typical revocations result from clients having 2 Operating While Intoxicated convictions within 7 years. If this is your first revocation, you can file a Michigan Driver’s License Restoration Appeal after the expiration of one year since the revocation. If this is your second revocation, the waiting period to file for a hearing extends to five years.
Although the filing procedure may seem straightforward, it is imperative to have a skilled attorney help you prepare for your hearing. Many people that attempt to file a DLAD appeal on their own end up losing due to the many seemingly minor technicalities involved with these appeals. Among other things, preparation involves completing a substance abuse evaluation, obtaining reference letters, and preparing you and other witnesses for the hearing.

If you lose, you cannot file a new DLAD appeal for some time. You can try to appeal your DLAD decision to the Circuit Court; however, these appeals are extremely difficult to win, especially without an experienced attorney. Our attorneys at La Grasso, Abdo & Silveri are familiar with what is necessary to file a successful DLAD appeal, and can help you prepare for and represent you at your hearing.
